So together we’re going to make sure this is the year you get your results exactly how you want ’em.

We’re going to break “results” down, piece by piece, until you’re busting down goals, one after the other, like it’s your job.

Defining Your Goals

Let’s start here.What do you want, exactly? Can I ask you a favour while you figure this out? Be painfully honest with yourself.

When someone tells me their goal is to be healthy and live longer I smile and say “That’s great….. now what’s your real goal?”

It’s not that being healthy and living longer isn’t a legitimate goal. It’s that it’s so uncommon that I’m willing to roll the dice and call BS.

See, we all have two goals – The one that sounds good, and the REAL one.

Figure out what your real one is.

Is your goal to look better than your baby mama’s new boyfriend? Cool.

Do you avoid looking at yourself in the mirror before you jump in the shower, and instead you want to be able to stand proudly and admire the man or woman staring back at you? Cool.

Your goal is YOUR goal. Be shameless about that.

Lay Out Your Strategy

Remember, your strategy is YOUR strategy (spotting a trend here?) Aside from a few basic pillars that will be present in everyone’s strategy, your plan of attack will be as unique as you are. That’s because no one has your life, your strengths, weaknesses, kids, dog, boss or personal history.

Your behaviors will map towards your goal, but the plan itself will tailored specifically to you. Don’t stress it if your plan doesn’t look exactly like the sexy YouTube or Instagram star. This is your show, and you need to run it in a way that works for you.

There are many ways to arrive at a certain destination. If you want to end up lean, strong and healthy, there are hundreds of paths that will get you there.

Take the one that makes sense for you. Or, carve your own. I fucking love people who carve their own.

When Laying Out Your Strategy…

…always be confident you WILL do the habits you choose to implement. Remember, you don’t need to bite off the whole thing. Just one small change to your lifestyle at a time will have tangible and compounding effects.

If you approach your plan without confidence, like… “I dunno, we’ll see what happens…fingers crossed…”

You just sealed your fate. You’re not going to make it.

You’ll either need to adjust your attitude towards your plan by:

thinking with a more resourceful mindset
being aware of your negative self talk and cutting yourself off every time you enter negative territory

Or, you’ll need to adjust your plan by making it one you are confident you can execute.

As you execute your plan, you’ll start to see progress, you’ll change as a person, your confidence will sky rocket, and you’ll slowly take on more. Even the Great Pyramids were built one brick at a time, so keep that in mind when crafting your plan.

More people fail to make progress because they can’t keep up their plan. Not because their plan wasn’t intense enough.

This is the #1 mistake people make when taking on a new goal. Listen, I don’t care how aggressively you attack your goals. Just make sure you’re confident you can execute it.
